COLUMBIA CITY — The Whitley County Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center will feature local artist Shanon Roberts for the first “Focus on the Arts” exhibition in the new Visitors Center facility in downtown Columbia City.

Her exhibit, “Evolution of an Artist” will follow her artistic career through her early years learning to work under renowned art educator Walt Malicki at Whitko High School and forward to her present work.

A graduate of Whitko High School, Roberts began her graphics design career at Shindigz in South Whitley. Today, she is a principal designer for Zimmer Biomet in Warsaw and is named in four patents.

In addition to her professional work, she has worked on many non-profit design projects, including work for The Fork Lift, The Warehouse, Columbia City High School Lady Eagles Soccer program and The Center for Whitley County Youth. She has previously exhibited at the Winona Lake Art Fair, Three Rivers Art Fair and BrewHa Coffee House.

The “Evolution of an Artist” exhibit will be unveiled 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, with an artist’s reception at the Whitley County Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center, 128 W. Van Buren St., in downtown Columbia City. The opening celebration is planned in conjunction with the First Friday events in downtown Columbia City that evening.

The Focus on the Arts exhibit will remain open for viewing weekdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Visitors Center. Admission is free.

Roberts exhibit will remain on display until Sept. 31.
