WATERLOO — Fifteen bands competed, and host DeKalb performed in exhibition, at the DeKalb Invitational Saturday.

Columbia City placed second in Scholastic Class A and Bishop Dwenger was third. New Haven, South Side and Wayne received participation awards.

Woodlan swept the caption awards, winning for best music, general effect and visual effect while capturing first place. Adams Central placed second and Whitko finished third.

The Eastside Marching Blazer Pride received a participation award in Class D competition.

Garrett’s Railroader Regiment placed second in Class C competition. First-place Leo won for best music, general effect and visual effect.

North Side was the only Class B band competing, winning the awards for best music, general effect and visual effect.

Bluffton placed first in Scholastic Class B, winning caption awards for best music and visual effect. Manchester won for general effect.

First-place Snider swept the caption awards in Scholastic Class A, capturing best music, visual effect and general effect.
