COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s Common Council approved the first reading of an ordinance to address cut grass being blown into sidewalks and roadways in city limits.
Residents who blow their mowed grass into the streets or sidewalks could pose dangerous situations for motorists, and also are contributing to stormwater issues.
Councilwoman Jennifer Romano compared the ordinance with similar ordinances in the winter, that state that people shouldn’t blow snow into roadways.
The first reading was approved by a 5-0 vote.
The council is also expected to receive a change from the ordinance committee on dog ordinances in upcoming meetings.
