CHURUBUSCO — Churubusco Elementary School’s third-graders had a double-lesson last week — one in tree planting, and another in philanthropy.

The third-graders, under the direction of Churubusco Clerk-Treasurer Madalyn Sade-Bartl and Town Supervisor Jeremy Hart, planted trees in the Churubusco Town Park.

Sade-Bartl and Hart began the program in 2016 after attending the Tree Steward certification training in 2016.

Sade-Bartel and Hart first presented to the students about how important trees are for the community, as well as proper planting techniques, before walking over to the park to plant trees.

Last week, 36 trees were planted by the students.
