COLUMBIA CITY — This year marks the 238th anniversary of an American Revolution War battle in Whitley County between troops of Colonel Augustine de la Balme and Miami Indian Chief Little Turtle and his warriors.
On Saturday, Nov. 3, the Col. de la Balme Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will hold a ceremony commemorating that event at the battle’s site.
The memorial site is located in Union Township on De La Balme Road, north off of Old Trail Road near 700E. The ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m. Also participating will be members of the Indiana Society of the Sons of the Revolution War Color Guard, plus Daughters of the American Revolution and children members from around the state.
The public is invited to join in remembering the battle that occurred in what is now Whitley County during the American Revolution time.
