HUNTERTOWN — Five Whitley County wrestlers are headed to semistate after competing well at the Carroll Regional on Saturday — Jackson Pettigrew, Reese Wicker, Dominic Heath, Carter Wireman and Jarrett Forrester.

Columbia City’s Pettigrew was the regional champion at 160 pounds, going 3-0 on the day. On the season, Pettigrew has only recorded two losses.

Churubusco’s Wicker was regional runner-up in the 220-pound weight class, falling only to regional champion Jayden Elwood of Leo.

Churubusco’s Heath finished third in the 120-pound weight class. Columbia City’s Isaiah Litherland fell in the opening round of the class.

Columbia City’s Forrester finished third at 126 pounds and Churubusco’s Korbyn Reister fell in the opener.

Columbia City’s Wireman won his opening round match over his South Side opponent, but fell in round two to eventual regional champion Clayton Fielden of Garrett at 170 pounds, placing fourth to advance.

Churubusco’s Zander Hord fell in the opening round at 106 pounds, and Columbia City’s Austin Dunnuck fell in round one at 113 pounds.

Columbia City’s Hunter Maggard lost to the eventual regional runner-up of Leo at 138 pounds.

CC’s Alton Mullinax lost in round one at 152 pounds. Teammate Solomon Barrera also lost in round one at 182 pounds, and Churubusco’s Landon Keener fell in the first round of the class as well.
