LARWILL — The Whitko Community Schools’ Board of Trustees meeting ended on a solemn note last week, as Pierceton Elementary School Principal Mike McClain tendered a letter of resignation to the board at the monthly meeting last week, effective June 30.
“I have enjoyed being part of this community from the first minute I stepped through the door,” McClain wrote in his letter, which was read by Superintendent Brandon Penrod. “The community support for the school is at a tremendous level. I have learned so much about what it means to be a champion for our kids — our team created a culture that made it enjoyable for me to come to work each morning. Thank you for the opportunity to work alongside you.”
Penrod offered his own sentiment.
“Speaking from the superintendent’s office, I appreciate your time here — your diligence and effort,” Penrod said.
Whitko’s next board meeting is April 15 at 6:30 p.m. at South Whitley Elementary School.
