BLOOMINGTON — Churubusco’s boys and girls track teams had a strong showing at the state indoor meet at Indiana University in Bloomington on Saturday.

The Eagles were led by Sam Wood, who won the pole vault in the small school division, clearing 15 feet, 6 inches. Wood also placed eighth in the long jump and 11th in the 60-meter hurdles. Nick Nondorf finished 24th in the event.

The girls 800-meter relay team of Sierra Przemielewski, Miranda Mallot, Brille Shearer and Mariah Hosted broke a school record and finished 13th overall.

Maggie Burrita finished fourth in the girls pole vault.

Hannah Boersma took 11th in the girls high jump and 14th in the 60-meter hurdles.

Tanner Allen and Hunter Bianski competed in the shot put, placing 18th and 24th, respectively.

The 3,200-meter relay team of Jeb Parsons, Shawn Prater, Eli Lantz and Levi Skinner finished 18th. The girls squad of Katie Shuman, Cara Debolt, Ali Basinger and Jordan McCard took 17th.

The girls 1,600-meter relay squad of Shearer, Mallot, Brooke Konger and Debolt took 17th.

Columbia City also had athletes at the event, competing in the large school division. The boys distance medley team placed 14th. Liam Hesting took 13th in the shot put, and Felicity Clawson took 22nd in the girls shot put.
