COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s boys golf team looks to continue its success this season, bringing back three players with varsity experience.

The Eagles have gone 14-0 in conference dual matches in the past two seasons.

“We hope to be in the mix again,” coach Andrew Thompson said.

Columbia City returns Zach Harker, Wyatt Krider and Tyler Barnhart; but lost a trio of experienced players from last year’s squad.

The varsity team’s No. 1, 2 and 4 linksters from last year graduated out — Spencer McCammon, Nick Decker and Lawson Hahn.

“They had a lot of experience along with playing in the state finals when they were freshmen and sophomores,” Thompson said.

Several newcomers may make an impact this year, including freshmen Alex Hedrick and Sean Bledsoe and junior Mitch Wilson.

“This is the biggest number of players we have kept on our roster over the years, so we will see how that plays out,” Thompson said.

The coach is looking for the team to have more consistent scores across the varsity lineup this season.

“We struggled in that regard last year,” Thompson said. “We will have depth and that will be key for us as far as having players pushing for higher spots in the lineup.”

Seniors on the roster are: Cameron Hall, Harker, Evan Hochstetler and Nick Hull. Juniors are Andrew Booker, Logan Gilbert, Gavin Hyser, Michael Johnson, Krider, Cameron Smith and Mitchell Wilson. Sophomores are Barnhart and Jake Schnorr. Freshmen are Sean Bledsoe, Alex Hedrick and Max Moehle.
